I've been slack

Ok I have not used this blog for a while and I'm not too sure if anyone even checks it anymore but I thought I should pen a quick post...

Nick has already detailed the dramas leaving home and our first couple of days in Thailand on his blog so no need to go there.

In Doha airport for our mammoth 21hr stopover. Nearing our final few hours. Jet lag hit me hard today. Nausea added to a fatigue I am all to familiar with after regular night duties. An influx of what felt like 1000s of people to our quiet, friendly airport terminal at around midnight added an interesting and unexpected element to the experience. Did our best to sleep it off on stone cold tiled floors, bright fluro lights beaming against crisp white surfaces and arctic temperatures thanks to a super efficient air-con system.

It's not been all bad though. Another one of those random once in a lifetimes. I can't help but think of Tom Hanks character in that movie 'The Terminal'. As if I can remember his name. But as the hours pass I feel like I know this place better than anywhere else I've ever been. There is a phone ringing (sector 7G I would say) at the moment and Nick has just turned to me to ask if I was going to get it... Quite a fitting question for what I was writing at the time...

Anyway looking forward to our final flight for this chapter of the journey. Departs 9am. 7ish hour flight. Arriving 2.20pm Nairobi then the 5.30pm Precision air flight to Tanzania where we hopefully will meet Shona and the rest of the FWS team for a 45min trip in the ute to 'Kesho Leo'-the children's village we will call home for the next 12ish months. Phew! Well that is all working on the premise that we gain entry into firstly Kenya then Tanzania. We have not pre- arranged our visas and hoping we can get them at the airport. We don't like things to be too easy. Crossing fingers. But I guess if we are not granted visas than I'll be seeing y'all in a few days!!

We'll just have to wait and see...

  • Don't worry I still check it and yes you have been slack about it. I am more interested in Nick's xmas guitar. Who bought it for him (santa?) and what is it? Maybe a picture. Talk to you soon. Will someone please answer that phone!
